Died On Me

My olympus FE360 died on me recently leaving me digicamless and I've to rely on my sony handphone cybershot to take photos for my blogs. The thing that disappoints me most now is our family and sports day falls on this Saturday and why, why must my digicam died at a time as such as this.

Meaning I won't be able to take many good photos during the family day for my blog :|

RIP my faithful friend and companion. You're truly missed. But worries don't, I shall find myself a new digicampanion soon. *lol

It's pouring down rain outside.
I just reached home as another boring day slowly coming to a close. December is soon here!

A long holiday is coming, there's a sense of an excitement is awaiting me. I'm looking forward to an adventure of mountain climbing or maybe hills climbing and trotting briskly through the village, immersing myself in the cool mountain stream and enjoying the fresh country air with its gentle breeze.

As another boring day fell upon me on Monday-Blues, I sat at my table another 'doing nothing' day but facebooking.

And for the rest of the afternoon, I discovered Sony Vaio webcam's magic-i visual effects while chatting and came up with this:)))))!
Wah ha ha! Yeah.... All I want for Christmas! And that reminds me, I need to trim my eyebrows soon.

Last day of November already, see how time fliesss???

Today is Malaysia Day if you don't know it yet, Malaysia was born on this day 16 of September, 46 years ago. I think we Malaysian can never be 1 (one) generally, we are the people with a tendency of too quick to judge often without first finding out the truth.

However, for the betterment of Sibu people, this is for you all. Work is in progress, soon you will have less blackout in Teku.

Ok. I'm sensing my longlost 'sweetheart' is back. So, I'm not talking too much cos it's tense at the moment.

Enjoy! Happy Malaysia Day. Selamat menyambut Lebaran and Jangan main-main mercun-meriam!

Peaches...

Today's post is about 'Peaches'. Basically, it's about a peach I ate. According to a colleague who gave me the peach, once I've eaten it, I'm going to have an everlasting life. So, I winked.

Peach is not our local fruit, this is the second peaches I had within the last 3 years or more, perhaps, can't remember. Others were mostly preserved peaches from China, they were over preserved to almost unrecognised.

Here's the one big peach I had today at lunch.

As you can see, imported fruits are pricey and they don't usually taste great anymore once they reached the town. Like this peach, the fine hair or peach fuzz on it had turned wither, very likely the peach is no longer fresh.

Although the fresh of the fruit was soft and sweet, chilling injury marks were obvious after few bites of the fruit.

The aftermath of it. The seed, the little branch and a little piece of the skin still attached that formed a look-alike little newly hatched birdie.

Take a closer look, isn't it lame? Hahaha!

Mc Curry Puff

McDonald vs. McCurry. Because of the prefix 'Mc', sent McCurry (Malaysia Chicken Curry) to court against McDonald. And the winner goes to:--- "World fast food chain McDonald's has lost the battle to stop local Indian restaurant McCurry Restaurant (KL) Sdn Bhd from using the "Mc" trademark." There you have it... So, next time remember 'Mc' does not belong to McDonald alone but it's the most common surnames particularly by people of Scottish origin. Next, are you going to sue Mclaren too?

I was at Ramadhan stall yesterday, at my regular 'Makcik' for her delicious, and so far the best curry puff I've got in Sibu. Today, somehow, I was given my regular RM2 of Mc curry puff in a brown paper bag. I thought to myself, with brown bags, more environmental friendly not only save cost, our planet but also save our sea turtles from eating floating garbage plastic bags thinking they were jellyfish variety.

Somehow, my thought changed immediately when she put the brown bag of curry puff into a plastic bag (double bags) before handing it to me. Now, this will cost her double for the bags, more garbage to throw that will contribute to the global emissions and worse of all the sea turtles die twice....

Despite all, the curry puff still stay heavenly delicious!

The 'I Don't Care-lar' Attitude

While driving the project bosses from RH Hotel to the airport yesterday, looking to right, then left, then right again several of times, I was trying to figure out how to get out of RH area to the main road that leads to the airport road from the compact town. To that, one of the bosses suspected I was probably struggling with road directions, he asked, 'still not familiar with Sibu roads?' Sheepishly I smiled and answered, 'I don't usually come out'.

The main contractor has contracted us with another new project soon after the previous project was completed ahead of schedule in Sibu last November, 3 more projects were then given to us which will keep us busy.

Workers 'I don't care' attitude. Soon after they moved into the house we rented, I found outside the house littered with cigarette butts and a pile inside the drain just outside one of the rooms downstairs.

As sub-contractor, we sub-contracted another small company mainly doing piling and foundation work. And that consist of another team together with our team, being the sub-contractor we usually provide lodging, a place to stay for our sub-sub-contractor workers and their foremen too. We rented a semi-d house, fully furnished. Instead of seeing the workers appreciate one of the benefits provided, we encountered their 'don't care-lar attitude' which would give us a bad image.

A month ago when the work was still going on, I saw empty drums, empty oil buckets, used tyres outside the semi-d house, assuming they would clear them right after they have finished their works. A week ago after they have all left, I came back to the house and the same drums, empty oil buckets, used tyres are still at the exact spot as where I first saw them, now almost covered by lush grass.

The rain has filled the bottom of the empty oil buckets that would be a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.

And total eye sore, beer cans lying all over the place despite the big rubbish bin was placed just outside the house.

Don't you just hate this 'don't care-lar' attitude?

Noobs think I'm a noob because MY SPELLING SUCKS

In the society of the norms today...
A friend's 8 year old daughter came home sulked. She told her mom, 'I think they don't like me, because I'm a CHINESE!'

No! They are just a bunch of snobbish kids around, I said.

I told her, I once met noobs on the Internet. She asked me how do they look like, I told her they were bunch of snobbishlycute-unglybutadorable who think everyone loves them. They would go around saying, 'I love you' to their chosen ones so loud that everyone's aware and trembles in their presence.

Noob or noobie is a person who thinks she/he is SMART but portraying the snobbish characteristics of the protagonist who thinks correcting another person's error would make their life perfect and be recognised by the society they are mingling with. I used to chuckle to myself when I was told, Geee! YOUR SPELLING SUCKS! while trying to chat on a tag board. Noob(s) that I'm talking about is noob aka noobie someone who is new to the Internet, they are usually annoying and excessively stupid with their naive-teens thinking and love to correct just anyone their mistakes, they probably would grow up an old grumpy hag one day if they're not aware of their attitudes :)

If you have been on the Internet long enough, you should know Google is POWER!

Not merely a place stores huge pool of information. I always tell my buddies when they ask me questions I do not have the answers to, Google is my teacher.

A non-noob however would understand web browsers like firefox and safari (allow install) do auto spell check and Microsoft Word comes with grammar tool. When you misspelled a word, firefox or safari (whichever one you are using) detects the error immediately and the red dots appear under the misspelled word (unless you are really a noob and you don't know what they are) it's truly efficient. I just have to declare, I love today's amazing Internet, I love Bill Gates' invention on Microsoft. My works are made 100x perfect.

3 main reasons why I leave my spellings be misspelled on purpose for protagonist noobs to yank on tag boards: (1) It's a tag board of no principles and rules (2) I have long just painted beautiful nails that make typing a little uncomfortable and (3) laptop I am using has too colorful stickers on it, I can't see the letters clearly whichever it was, I'm aware of, there are errors in typo.

Ok, I'm sorry I do not have a perfectly good English to qualify myself to be in the category of your so called smart friends. I simply just don't deserve it! :)

*I'm gwrat I'm nto yuor freind!

Ah! now I'm feeling like an aghast teenage girl who just had my first period and can't recognise PMS yet, so when I'm down, I'd blame it on PMS, Argg! My spelling sucks!

Damn it PMS!

So, I told the 8 year old girl, it's ok if they don't like you because you're a Chinese.

Chapter Two

Work, school and all that will return to normal again after the year end long festival and holidays. Most schools reopen on Monday. Work will soon begin, office is extremely quiet the day I walked in after the night the fireworks shot up into the sky at the moment the clock struck twelve. The neighbour at the house behind us had a new year eve's bash where voices of people chatting, the music and noises of people shouting singing through microphones on karaoke were loud but all partook of the jolly moment looking forward in welcoming the new year of 2009 with gleeee :D

Sugarbun outlet's half way through lion dance painting on the glass windows.

Right just after the jolly Christmas occasion's over followed by the new year eve's celebration, the plastic pine trees displayed to welcome snowy winter adorned with jingling-tingling ornaments, colourful chasing lights and white wool spread out underneath the trees to look like snow in shopping malls were quickly replaced by red tanglongs, peach blossoms and all kind of CNY reds for house decorations took out of from their storing place for sale and soon the CNY celebration mood immerses in.

Grey Matter

I don't write a good blog. In fact I don't write at all, I scribbled thoughts, rants and raves and just about anything.

I don't have good command over written English to be able to come up with one figuratively and technically perfect composition that I call myself someone who can write.

I don't have perfect vocabs and most of the time I'm stuck with vocab limitations. Avowing it on one or two of my post entries, a snooty guy I met on the chatterbox haughtily commented it was not vocab limitations when I simply can't find a perfect word to describe something to complete a sentence about to write but correlated to intelligence. Supposition, that it correlated to intelligence based on the size of grey matter areas of brain!

It took me the most 30 long mins to scribe a post entry each time and came back the next day to check it through, I'm still at times adapted to student life's old habit of last minute rush to go through all checks.

***

Where was I? Until the grey had so taken over.

My hand grasped a book I took a minute ago of a bookshelf at the prominent location in the front of the store. I turned it to the back cover reading the book preview of Dorothy Koomson's 'goodnight beautiful'. It's a well written 'a fantastic blend of love, friendship and laughs' easy-to-read book I thought I might need one bedtime reading as I've done with my previous book couple of weeks ago.

My heart whispers, 'the only way to stop it, to stop the slow, agonising suffocation, was to leave. To walk through the door marked 'exit', knowing gratefully that there was no way back.'

It was the end
. (from the book)

Seated facing a Christmas tree at breakfast in a cafe, I'm feeling so frisky (not the horny frisky) there's no more rush hour bogged down at work and as much as I've got plenty of time to myself to take pleasure in now and it's already December the last month of the year 2008!

Lazy Day...The Ramblings

Cooked lamb chop, boiled bunny's little carrots, deep fried wedges for dinner and...

woke up bright and early because the day has something I'm expected to see.... To go beyond what's expected :) Have you ever seen the sun smiling on you?

Let's elope.

I spent one good evening finally resolve to watch the series of LOST and finished the whole season 3, great for more laid-back weekend evenings to come with more movies. Not many times in my normal working days I can couch potatoes in front of the TV in the evening. I missed a lot on Astro lately.... to name the few, AFC and travel channels.

You know how much I love to play cooking, talk about home, quilting, knitting and listen to how mothers bringing up their children rather than sitting in front of a computer following the state of the global economics, clicking on sites to see if Dow Jones will crash and who'd led Global stock markets into a continuing to crash? Neh, that's not my job but something there coherent. Maybe.

I've finished first season of the series Sex and the City sometimes ago... and I'd be looking to see more on pirated dvds from the nearby dvd shops around.

The change most captured my eye I won't want to miss is when the evening falls, the nightfall comes around, the light of the day is gone, the sun goes to sleep. I've been observing the moments the sky change colors... Watching the skyline turn from day to dusk, from dusk to night and the city adorned with lights at night while holding to the hope and awaiting the new dawn to begin another new adventure...

The snapshots while I am still at it...

Kuching at night. The nightlife begins...!

Sarawak Club - Remains After The Fire

Chilling morning breeze, kinda makes my brain freeze... it's GOOD! change is good. I used to wake up to the sound of water rushing on shore at Luak Bay, Miri... to the sound of birds chipping, to woody woodpeckers pecking and squirrels chasing each other across roof top and climbing up and down the rain gutters in spiraling ascents.

And I had one drastic change of atmosphere after I'd moved to Sibu town where on hectic working days I see young men grumpy on the streets running about their hectic day-to-day lives in the compact town and their young girls whining and cranky just about anything from food to fun, guilds to law and order, life as in like a medieval town and from the sound of the sea, sea breezes, birds singing and crickets chirping voices at night to a neighbor's one Foochow mother yelling and scolding her children that can be heard across town made one good early morning alarm clock.

Chilling morning... had me woke me up early to see sunrise. Had a cup of coffee while looking out the window the views of city with it people in it, a city defined by its people, they looked small from on high don't they? Getting their day starts in fast paced life with sign of 'stress' drawn across their foreheads *probably..... I am on my table working. Gonna get some Big Apple donuts :)

I pulled out one gray hair out of my head, my gray hair the proper indicator of old age... :) in the mid of doing so, I wonder what's good for lunch today.

***
I waited 15mins for him, at least make a tour around the Club to see if I am truthful in my words... he didn't show up.

Sarawak Club also known as a family club of excellence and prestige, reputedly one of the oldest private membership clubs in the whole of Malaysia *wow! With the club membership about RM15k by now and club member monthly fees of about RM45 if I'm not wrong as I'd just over heard it at the dinner.

Entry to The Sarawak Club membership is by invitation and introduction of existing members only, and it's truly a privilege to live around with one even many.

The fire on that night destroyed many memory items Sarawak Club kept mostly from the reigning period of the White Rajahs. However some burnt in the fire items were derived from after the fire in ashes and a History Corner was built to place them.

Left picture: Trophies and medals from the early White Rajahs' time golf tournaments saved from the fire.

Left picture: 130 years old bricks from the old building. Right picture: more of the burnt golf tournaments trophies.

Remains of old building brick walls after the fire.

Left picture: Burnt spoons and forks from aged as old as the White Rajahs' time. Right picture: Burnt coin box.

Left picture: Sarawak Club's history book stores the history of Sarawak and it White Rajahs. Right picture: List of past presidents of the Club.

Burnt wall clock and coin box with coins inside.

History corner.

The half burnt wall clock died at 4:39am in the fire. Right picture: The White Rajahs officers played golf a lot in the early days.

More on golf sticks and photos of the Club members.

History corner and some pictures of the early morning fire on 27 July 2006.

Ah,well... let's get some donuts to munch on now. As we only have Big Apple donuts in Kuching, so I'm contented with that :)

Lately... I stumbled upon an advert on the back of a bus that captured my attention while driving..... Do you know what Sibu people hate the most?
*
*
*
*
*
*
Sibu bus, "Semua Orang Sibu Membenci Kutu Sampah"..... err rubbish-lice? zomgwtfbbq!!!

*

And today is 16th September is the day when Sarawak was released from the British and Malaysia was formed. (Timeline) Why isn't today a Public Holiday for us in Sarawak?

The nation news came out with Anwar proclaiming "we are on track to take over the government."

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim pledged Monday to oust Malaysia's entrenched government and brazenly urged the prime minister to hand over power "smoothly and peacefully. >>"
*

And here, I am back to office after the long weekend....

Work awaiting...

And why isn't today a Public Holiday? Where I do not need to wake up to the beeping sound of my handphone's alarm at seven-thirty AM and be at the office before nine. where I lay snug in my bed, wrap tightly in a comforter listening to the music on my mini radio and forgetting about pile of work awaiting me :|

Santa Is Making A List, So You'd Better Be Nice...

Thursday, September 11, 2008
0 comments
Quote of the day, taken from chatterbox (8 Sept.08) Santa is making a list, checking it twice to see who's been good, and gonna find out who's naughty or nice (click the link and read from bottom to top. Here's one of the no-life-guys who views others as weakling while he's trying to play god). HOHOHOHO! Merry X-mas! When you expose someone with your harsh, ugly judgments about them and think no one judges you in return, you are definitely wrong and when you expose yourself to random anonymous with your harsh, ugly judgments about other people, you are not too far away from being defamed by others and you definitely have no one to blame but yourself. And how do you explain why is that people with below par intelligence are always blaming everyone else for their own mediocrity when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? I can't be 'hypersensitive' enough if my name and my blog's link were not spelled out accurately and posted by you on a famous blog with over 20k huge traffic daily when I did nothing wrong at all and watching over spammers that probably would come supporting your false statements about me spamming my website where I'd stand there totally defenseless.

Take the moral of the story, it's best said as, 'Do not judge nor accuse any falsely or you will be judged!' not everyone wants to WIN so badly. You know? It is if you can understand the word SORRY you'd have stopped creating more fiasco to see the pain in someone else but yourself. I'm truly sorry, you can't let go.
You know what? Work is just as full of excitement as to think about how LEGO towers were built when I was a kid.

One of the best parts of a boring afternoon is the afternoon cup of tea over work discussion and at the break between our discussion people start talking among themselves, I once wandered back into the days where I would be peeping out of the classroom windows (during our days, we had glass shutters windows and dirt stained curtains hanging over it) I sat there, patiently waiting for him to pass by outside the window and sang a song silently in my heart, that was Lionel Richie's song 'Hello' ...I sometimes see you pass outside my door. Hello, is it me you're looking for?
Those days, Anthonian boys wore white clean shirts with forest green color long pants and they still do today. I'd fall for guys in their smart white clean shirts with red maroon ties and green long pants school uniforms, the best good looking would be short hair clean cut smart guys. And there was this one tall, thin not skinny guy has not so much a look that could attract girls to him but was smart, smart enough to have stolen my heart away..... I wandered back, I'd want to go back to those days when I'd wait for him with an exercise book in my hand and pretend to have mathematics questions to ask.

When the school days finally over we parted without knowing exactly when we will meet again. I can still feel the warm of his hand in my hand but he never said a word not even a farewell smile.
My angelfish is watching over me :)

'Guleng Pia'

Check out the World Clock (it's a forwarded email sent by a friend) I'm not sure how reliable is the source or how true is this, but note the numbers of oil pumped.

Our USB Celcom modem has not been complaining so far. Not like we were told Celcom broadband sucks! Well to be honest, it has given us better performance then the old 3.6mb/s broadband device we've got earlier on and this even allows download movies successfully.
That's for the Celcom broadband. This one cost us RM599 with the date purchased tag still on it.

---@---

A couple of days ago, I dream I was walking on a hectic street in the hub of busy and dusty Manila city with a friend, in our vicinity we saw people moving non-stop. And the other day before, I was driving a Filipino friend to a bank in the town while passing by Sibu’s post office we saw crowd of people jamming into Sibu’s main post office waiting to receive their road-tax rebates, an attempt from the government to cushion the blow of the recent fuel hike.
So I was telling the friend, due to shocking fuel hike our government is rebating us RM620 a vehicle for 2000cc and below and RM150 for a motorbike. To that the friend replied, 'oh, that’s good. That could never happen in our country (Philippines) the irony, of course, is that the government is corrupt we all know that.'

In view of fuel hike, although I can save a lot from spending on meals as our meals are being provided by the company and home cook nevertheless I'm beginning to feel the pinch. Sigh~
Looking out from our home-office, I couldn’t understand why Sibu Municipal Council has yet to provide every home a green trash bin like they do in Kuching and Miri which is also giving a better and cleaner environment.

We all know, the bad thing about using the black rubber trash bins with the bin' caps usually went out of sharp or went missing after a while. The annoyance stray dogs digging out the trash bins for food, spilling rubbish over the streets and an eye sore of dirty disgusting look outside the house. Rubbish all over and disturbance of stray dogs prowling the streets, unwanted pups and noisy dog fights at night. Wait, isn't that sound like street kids phenomena?

And Sibu town with no animal shelters to keep the unwanted dogs and 'cruel' killing that raised havoc by SSPCA (The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Seriously everyone loves cute dogs but not everyone wants smelly stray dogs prowling around near their house. So what do you reckon? We, ended up keeping an unwanted stray dog in return to guard our office house and vehicles park at the house compound due to many incidents of missing vehicles lately in Sibu.
---@---
Recently one of us in the office bought plenty of flaky cookies back to Kuching to be distributed among friends in Kuching according to him.
Seeing that I was curious and asked him what’s so special about the cookies. He told me they are called ‘Guleng Pia’. It's flaky puff stuffed with crumbly texture of mixed milk powder, butter and sugar. Apart from it messy eating and small pieces all over the place, the truth is its kidda addictive.
