My dslr, My love...

As a teacher teaching preparatory at an international school, I was asked to teach phonics to children 3 going on 4 for the first semester of school.

One of their favorite periods is learning phonics through songs. I've been using phonics songs to teach alphabet sounds to this group of preparatory children and they love it so much. As I've been coughing on and off this recently, whenever I'm coughing I'd make the children to sing the letter C's song for the interval while I pretend to be the caterpillar coughing: 'caterpillars coughing, ke', ke', ke', (as ke' is the sound of the letter C) ke' is the sound of C'.

After much contemplating on to buy or not to buy, after had put so much thoughts about it that I can do without one and I do not need one, I finally settled on a dslr camera.

I welcome my first dslr Sony a230 on 3 of May 2010. I've joined the group of people out there who are dslr craze. I've spent close to two thousand ringgit (unnecessarily) on dslr last month.

And these are the random pictures through my dslr lens.

Easy and fun with its compact and lightweight design, intuitive controls and flexible system options.

The mode dial on top of the camera offers instant access to 6 Scene Selection modes, each with a user-friendly Help Guide and example photo.

I just love it!

The View Through My Lens

Today is the last day of May already!
Harvest Festival or Gawai Dayak is celebrated by the Dayaks and Ibans in Sarawak to usher in another year of bountiful goodness after the end of the rice harvest. Gawai Dayak falls on every 1st of June which is also mom's birthday. We celebrated mom's birthday in Sarikei yesterday. It was a simple birthday celebration.

Dropped by Sony Service Center in Sibu this morning to get my Sony laptop's fan replaced due to manufacture fault, (note to those who purchased VGN-CS33G model get yours check before the warranty period's over) got the fan replaced for free. The lady at the Sony was one friendly and a kind person as if we were longtime friends unlike as we always hear about those poor and unfriendly service at certain Service Centers. We chatted from Sony to everything. And I got my Sony laptop serviced in just an hour.

Then I took a nephew to Sibu esplanade located at the end of Sibu Town Square Phase II to see boats as he suggested it.

There, trying out my photography skills with my dslr: The view through my lens.

Kampung Datu.

The nephew pointing at the shipyard along Igan River.

Running....

Sibu's oldest trees still standing strong and tall at Phase II Town Square.

Behold! I'm now in Sibu :)

My dslr!

I've been slacking a little bit in updating jan-el's blog recently but have not neglecting it. Still checking on it daily except for unable to check who's leaving me messages on my chatbox as the chatbox was blocked by a Government Institute where I was putting up lately. I'm now back in Sibu for a 2 weeks long school and Gawai break!

After my digicam died on me, I haven't got much to write about, no pictures to post which was the reason why I've not been updating my blog that often now.

After much thought, I decided to get myself a dslr than a point-and-shoot digital camera considering the price of dslrs have dropped so much and become much more in the reach of the average person like me's budget. *winks

These are my very first pictures with my new dslr!

Yeah! I'm going out to shoot!

Red Is My Backpack

I bought myself something red yesterday although CNY is still very far away. It's however not for CNY though. Just the colour, red denotes joy and celebration, the colour of happiness, prosperity and good luck.

RED is my colour. White added to its charm. The flora pattern made it looks feminine.

Red is my colour. Here's from the colours and personality on colour preferences quote. Red is my colour, I boast incredible willpower and am capable of overcoming obstacles that would normally leave others shaking in their boots. Unquote. :)))))

It's a great backpack, padded crossover shoulder strap that shift the entire load to my shoulders, light-weight durable and comfortable for traveling too. The head handle is made convenience to lift the bag off the floor or from inside the car.

It has a narrow body and back-hugging shape with thickly padded back panel for added support, such a special design for women with incredible willpower like yours truly :))))

I love the spacious section for documents, project files, pastime reading books or even an extra laptop.

A section padded for my Sony Vaio with self-adhesive supporting strap to hold the laptop in place.

Accessory multiple compartments and zippered mesh pockets (see through) designed for balance and organisation.

Most of all, it comes with a 1 year warranty.

I heart my red backpack!

Sexy Pink Sony Vaio (II)

I spent both Saturday and Sunday chilling at home or more precisely chilling in front of my new Sony. Actually not so, because at the end of the day I decided to use my Acer laptop to update post entries as most of my last photos were uploaded on my Acer HD. I watched 2 movies over the weekend on my (16:9 aspect ratio) Sony Vaio and I found the laptop has a superior sound system, even including an integrated sub-woofer. Cool! :)

I like it quite a bit.

I'd be sending my Acer for reformatting, it's acting up and is very slow now. It apparently picked up virus or probably viruses or could have been infected with malware as my Acer's anti-virus has also gone insane. The guy at IT.com at Delta Mall told me they would charge me RM45 for reformatting my laptop. It was free when I sent in our office's laptop couple of months ago though. And that reminds me, I haven't created recovery discs for my Sony Vaio yet since I got it a week ago. Wonder why Sony don't provide recovery discs with their computers. Now I need to learn how to create recovery discs.... just a 6 easy steps of, (1) Click start, all programmes, VAIO recovery center and (2) Click create recovery discs and start. (3) Read the on-screen instructions carefully, and then click next. (4) Select the disc you want to use, and then click next. (5) Insert a blank disc, and then click OK. (6) Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the process. There, how easy is that? Anyway, Sony Center would charge RM40 to create recovery discs for the noobs. Apart from that, it does not come with pirated MSO it comes with a 60-day trial of MS Office 2007, which means, I will have to buy genuine MS Office for my Sony Vaio.

I was told by the Sony Center's guy, a licensed version Office Home and Students 2007 allows installation for 3 pcs. I can share my genuine version with 2 other pcs that would save me money. Here's what will happen, divide by 3 (sharing), the first installation pay 50% of the price, while the 2nd and 3rd pcs get the other half of 50% the cost of the genuine software. Smart eh?

Tell me something, because I am really a noob here. What should I do, share the licensed version with 2 others for only RM80 (the half haf) or just purchase Microsoft Office pre-installed on my new Sony for RM300?

Sexy Pink Sony Vaio

Introducing my new sexy and stylish pink Sony Vaio. It's not too girlish-pink as I'd thought it would look like as seen on Sony catalog but lovely PINKILICIOUS Sony Vaio Notebook. I've always wanted something more that perhaps would suit me... I spent a little bit more on my hard earned money for this one piece of gadget although I still have my Acer Notebook with me simply because I need a little bigger gb memory Notebook for my personal use that I might not be able to disclose it here to the whole world. Don't worry (just in case) it's not something illegal which may violate the laws of Malaysia.

Meet my sexy and stylish pink Sony Vaio. She's like my dream came true! Gorgeous ain't she?

I'm not capable of writing a review for Sony but I'm obsessed with the name 'Sony' so much so that I have 2 Sony Ericsson handphones, (in fact everyone at home is owning Sony handphones now) Sony cameras, Sony plasma and my latest addition to our Sony collection, my sexy pink Sony Vaio. Sony will thank me for this.

Don't you wish yours was hot like my Sony Vaio?

As this is my forth computer, 1 desktop 2 Acers (1 stolen) from the past many experiences, I was extra particular before deciding on buying another one this time. I did the checking, comparing prices, specs and reading a lot of reviews online and came to comparing prices with almost the same spec laptops like Dell, after much contemplating, I found Sony's considerably more expensive but no doubt Sony is more reliable than the others as I was told and again (of course) it depends on what you'll be using it for. I finally decided on Sony Vaio.

As this is my first day using my Sony, I'm still trying to find my way around and had just downloaded Mozilla Firefox browser which I'm more familiar with to update blog.

So, this post is brought to you by my sexy Sony Vaio! :)
