I may not be one of the older Baby Boomers who identify with the young Michael Jackson of the Jackson Five, the days of "I'll Be There", but I remember stumbled upon that one old cassette, I loved the song, "I'll Be There" that's Michael Jackson to me.
While the "younger Baby Boomers will remember him more for his solo performances, particularly the "Thriller" era in 8os and the music videos that marked the beginning of a new form of music entertainment that helped give birth to the MTV generation", I remember 'Billie Jean', I remember 'Thriller, Thriller Night...' and I still remember 'Beat It' and that was Michael Jackson, he was the most talked about superstar then.
Not long after that, he's changed, probably the ugly looking white-man looked like a woman walking and singing on the stage, a star full of controversy. Today, he's gone, in this inglorious way, nevertheless he was a great musician that left his mark on the world. "We shan’t forget his ability to make music so full of sheer life-force that you just have to move. That part of him and that part of us remains forever."
I was without internet connection for the past couple of days due to, Digi barred my broadband over an overdue bill I've yet to settle and Streamyx was down for unknown reason for the second time now at our area. The night before, I was watching 'Gia' played by Angelina Jolie (on dvd) based on Gia Marie Carangi's journal on how once was a visibly striking model, hit with all the photographers and rocked the fashion world at the tender age of 18, turned to drugs to escape the harsh reality at the peak of her career.
In a short life of just 26 years, she has seen the most top level of her career as a supermodel and a sever downfall too. Gia rise to fame at a very young age and in a very short spam of time, was also the first well known woman to die from AIDS. At the end of the movie, I thought to myself, they can have whatever they want to, but they ruined it all! Is life isn't fair?
Life is supposed to be good, enjoy it while you can. However, have a great weekend everyone!
