Bintulu

Not long ago, kites of the world fly Bintulu skies at Bintulu's annual kite festival. I was in Bintulu recently but missed out Bintulu's annual kite festival.

This is a yearly event in Bintulu, according to the source the recent world kite festival saw thousands thronged the old airport ground to watch kites of various sizes, shapes, colours and designs throughout the International Borneo Kite Festival.

I happened to drop by Bintulu on my way back to Sibu from Miri before the annual kite festival begins and where festival's adv banners can be seen hang from lamp poles all along Bintulu main road.

The festival is also known as 'Pesta Guli' in Bintulu. ('Gudi' kite in local Malay language) Those colourful giant kites are awesome!
Pics taken before the festival. Fish fly in the sky.

Bintulu is a major industrial centre. Its port area to the east of the main town hosts the Petronas Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Complex, currently the world’s largest liquefied natural gas production facility on a single site, with an annual production of 23 million tonnes. (Wiki)

During my early days in Miri, Bintulu was one of our 'mission' fields. Our travel to Bintulu can be considered quiet frequent those days.

The new Bintulu is a premier, well-planned and environmentally attractive industrial town developed by the Bintulu Development Authority.

Celebrating Malaysia Day, keep the national flags flying.
