It was a Saturday evening, where party goers was just about to start their night-party the night away, for some it was about-just about to have their dinner, while some it was about a Saturday to be with some loved ones, to some it was a Saturday night out with their swans having romantic dinner somewhere and for the little some, it was only a normal Saturday night stuck in front of a TV set watching DVDs or Olympic games broadcast live from Beijing, China. Well, whatever it is. It was a Saturday night.
I can tell, traffic in Sibu was in chaos. No one was hurt that night and no harm was reported.

You don't get to see this kind of towers in the town area. If I explain it in electrical engineering terms, you probably will be blurred. So to make it simple this is 275kv transmission line towers. It's a electrical tower hold large power lines that transmit high voltage. Just look at the tiny people up the tower :)
This is myst3 on the tower camwhoring (I mean a mystery guy, just in case myst3 got perasan)
And the night where everyone was searching for light was when circuit 1 finally tripped after the main grid had not been operating normally while works were being carried out at the new Selangau 275kv substation.

A team was working on the completion of Selangau 275kv substation for the shutdown on Saturday afternoon. They returned from the site after sunset. We were all happily about to go for our dinner when the problem occurred. This 275kv substation was needed to connect the new Mukah coal-fired power station to the main grid as part of system expansion and reinforcement programme. And the night where everyone was searching for light was when circuit 1 finally tripped after the main grid had not been operating normally while works were being carried out at the new Selangau 275kv substation.
This is according to the statement on The Borneo Post>>
There is no fault in the overall system. The only suspect was the operational malfunction on the over-current protection relay at the Selangau 275kv substation....
That was why we all had candle light dinner that night.
"At 6.39pm, Circuit 2 between Selangau and Kemena, being the remaining circuit in operation, tripped, causing the system to split into two sub-systems. Due to insufficient generation capacity to meet the load demand in Kuching-Sibu sub-system, the generators in Batang Ai and Sejingkat Power Corporation (SPC) tripped, causing blackout in areas in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarikei and Sibu. Restoration of supply in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure was nearly completed when Circuit 2 tripped again at 8.09pm.. (The Borneo Post, Monday Aug 11, 08)
