Sarikei's Honeydew

Sarikei, the town where I grew up, stores many childhood sweet memories :)

I know we've got pineapples in Sarikei and as it official mascot. The fruit among many other fruits that I don't favor except when they are made into pineapple jam and tarts. My mom made good pineapple jam when we were young, she put less sugar, no coloring and just pineapples.

As a curious young girl then, I can still remember, she taught me methods of making pineapple jam when I was only 12. I remember it was the tidiest job among all the cooking jobs I'd done then. The sweats from peeling, cutting and getting the pineapples ready to cooking pineapple jam that need stirring frequently until pineapple jam turned thicken and sticky that normally will take about 8-9 hours or more of work ":) and my mom would only use grandmother's charcoal stove to cook pineapple jam, according to her some things just taste nicer when you use charcoal stove to cook ;)
Sarikei is the state's largest producer of pepper, as the agricultural hinterland is bountiful and blessed in fruits production. I was introduced to Sarikei's honeydew recently when one of us bought some back from Sibu's market for our dessert after meal. Honestly. I didn't know till then, Sarikei, the little town where I grew produces nice, sweet honeydew from Super Farm, Sarikei. They are sweet ;)
